Joe is responsible for managing the economic development process, developing and maintaining positive relationships with development groups within the service territory, interfacing with other departments to provide customer service and providing input into the development of new products, services and tariffs. In the Customer Solutions role Joe is responsible for managing medium and large customer relationships through Evergy/Westar’s Business Center and Energy Consultants.
Joe is a Professional Engineer in the State of Missouri and has 27 years, experience in the utility industry. His previous roles included Planning Engineer, Energy Consultant, Manager Transmission services, Director Economic Development and Customer Relations, and Manager Customer Solutions.
Lisa Franklin, CEcD, EDFP, is a recognized leader in the economic development profession. With more than 30 years of experience providing value to economic development organizations and communities as a practitioner, she is frequently called upon to provide innovative solutions for economic development organizations to improve the overall effectiveness of technology-led initiatives.
Lisa currently works with local economic development partners within Evergy’s service territory in both Kansas and Missouri and is responsible for managing Evergy’s portfolio of local partner programs. In addition, Lisa manages LocationOne (LOIS), a nationwide online economic development site and building application that is utilized by more than 4,000 economic development organizations across the United States and Mexico.
She is an active member of the International Economic Development Council (IEDC), the Council for Community and Economic Research (C2ER), the National Rural Economic Development Association ((NREDA), Utility Economic Development Association (UEDA), and the Missouri Economic Development Council.
Lisa received the designation “Certified Economic Developer” (CEcD) from IEDC in 1995 and her “Economic Development Financial Professional” (EDFP) certification in 1997. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration with an emphasis in Marketing and Management from Missouri Southern State University.
John Engelmann has been employed in the field of economic development in Greater Kansas City since 1988. His experiences at the Kansas City Area Development Council and the Southwest Johnson County EDC provided him the opportunity to work with national site selectors and corporate decision makers as well as create local business retention and capacity building initiatives. In 2001, John began his career in utility economic development and works with local and state partners within Evergy’s 94-county service territory in both Kansas and Missouri. John has been a certified economic development professional since 1994. He is currently the Immediate-Past President of the Utility Economic Development Association, a national organization for investor-owned utility economic development professionals.
Ebony Clemons-Ajibolade has a decade of experience building positive community relations and strategic partnerships throughout the State of Kansas. She was hired as the Community Relations Manager for Westar Energy in 2015, and now under the newly merged KCP&L/Westar team, is an Economic Development Manager.
Her previous engagement includes, Westar Energy- Community Relations Manager and Wichita media spokesperson. Financial Industry-Licensed Financial Specialist, Licensed Banker, and Business Development for South Central and Western, Ks.
Ebony is on the Local Workforce Development Board for Workforce Alliance and a trustee for Leadership Wichita. She also serves on the Greater Wichita Partnership’s Strategic Advisory Team and the Advisory Board for Advance Kansas. Ebony has a dual degree in Political Science and Psychology from Kansas State University and a Masters of Business Law from Friends University.
