Hometown Economic Recovery Program

Evergy is now accepting applications through October 1 for its Hometown Economic Recovery Program.

501(c)(3) and 501(c)(6) economic development organizations can apply to receive a grant to help rebuild their local economies. Grants range from $5,000 – $25,000. A portion of the $2.2 million Evergy Covid-19 Customer and Community Relief effort is specifically designated for economic development initiatives. Eligible organizations include workforce development, chambers of commerce and local economic development organizations.

Recovery grants will be awarded for:

  •  Attracting or expanding businesses
  •  Developing a strategic plan to prepare an area for development
  •  Projects related to job retention, retraining and workforce

 Organizational operating costs are not eligible. The second phase will open in August and close in October.
